DIGITAL URBAN FARM

Innovative approach to solve the ever rising food epidemic

Our system is made up of aquaculture for fish, hydroponics for plants, and bacterial filtration. This creates a fully functioning cycle to quickly and efficiently supply consistent produce and seafood. Aquaponics is a typically indoor farm that integrates the cultivation of fish and plants within interconnected tanks of recirculating water. This will result in an estimated 1,000 pounds of fish and 5,000 pounds of fresh produce each month per farm. That equates to approximately 4,000 servings of fish and 10,000 servings of produce. Ultimately feeding 14,000 people with locally grown, high quality, fresh, and nutritious food monthly.

HOW IT WORKS

Aquaponics is an innovative food‑production model that merges aquaculture (raising fish) with hydroponics (soilless plant cultivation) to create an abundantly profitable, closed‑loop system. By leveraging natural biological cycles, aquaponics allows businesses to grow high‑value crops and marketable fish using fewer resources, lower operational costs, and higher output per square foot.

1. Fish Create the Primary Inputs
In the aquaponics cycle, fish generate nutrient-rich waste as a natural byproduct of feeding. Instead of discarding this waste—as traditional aquaculture systems do—an aquaponics operation transforms it into valuable plant fertilizer. This reduces the need for costly water changes and eliminates chemical fertilizers from

the budget. 2. Bacteria Convert Waste Into Usable Plant Nutrition

How Aquaponics Works

Specialized nitrifying bacteria convert fish waste from ammonia to nitrates. This biological conversion process creates a steady supply of natural fertilizer, lowering input costs and ensuring consistent nutrient delivery for premium plant growth.  3. Plants Rapidly Uptake Nutrients and Deliver Marketable Yield
Plants in the grow beds absorb the nitrate-rich water, resulting in:

  • Faster growth cycles

  • Higher density planting

  • Year-round production

  • Consistently high-quality produce that commands premium prices

Many businesses report reduced time-to-harvest compared to soil farming, enabling more frequent crop rotations and predictable cash flow. 4. Clean Water Returns to the Fish—Reducing Waste and Utility Costs
As plants filter the nutrients, they clean and oxygenate the water. That water then cycles back to the fish tanks, drastically reducing water waste. Aquaponics uses up to 90% less water than traditional farming models, translating directly into long-term savings and more sustainable operations.
